Landslides have been reported along Khanh Le Pass on National Highway 27C.
The affected roads include: National Highway 27C; Provincial Roads 702, 706, ĐT.657 (Pham Van Dong Road), Nguyen Tat Thanh Road, ĐT.653C (Huong Lo 39), ĐT.656 (Provincial Road 9); and the To Hap – Son Binh route. Notably, this is the second time within just one month that Khanh Hoa has issued such an emergency declaration for its transport infrastructure.
The immediate cause of the situation was prolonged heavy rainfall in mid-November. Between the night of 16 and 17 November, the province recorded widespread rainfall ranging from 80–250 mm, while key areas such as Vinh Hy, Ninh Hai, Khanh Vinh, Khanh Son, and Nha Trang experienced rainfall of 300–400 mm.
In particular, Cam Ranh and Cam Phuoc Dong stations recorded historic rainfall levels of 458.6 mm and 487.5 mm respectively. Subsequently, from the night of 18 to 22 November, torrential rain continued with high intensity (exceeding 400 mm in some locations), causing rapid rises in river water levels, severely impacting downstream areas and damaging road surfaces.
Given the urgent circumstances, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to lead a comprehensive assessment of the damage. Based on this assessment, the Department will issue orders for emergency construction works to promptly implement repair measures, ensure traffic safety, and stabilize local residents’ living conditions.
