The Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA), in collaboration with the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre), is organizing a Learning Week and Knowledge Exchange on Disaster Risk Management in Viet Nam.

Taking place from 23–27 June, the event marks the first activity under the ASEAN-PRIME project, funded by the Government of Canada through the AHA Centre.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Trường Sơn – Vice Director General of VDDMA – expressed appreciation to the Government of Canada and the AHA Centre for their practical support for disaster risk management in the ASEAN region.

He emphasized:
"This is a valuable opportunity for delegates to gain deeper insights into Viet Nam's disaster risk management mechanisms, while also sharing and learning experiences from other countries in the region – particularly in areas related to gender equality and social protection in disaster risk reduction."

The programme brings together 30 delegates from ASEAN Member States, Timor Leste, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the AHA Centre. Throughout the week, the delegation will hold working sessions with VDDMA, national and international partner agencies, including United Nations organizations, and conduct field visits to key disaster risk reduction infrastructure projects in Viet Nam.
