The event was attended by Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Director General of the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority; Ms. Kendra Rinas, Chief of Mission of IOM in Vietnam; Ms. Shin Min Kyung, KOICA Project Manager in Vietnam; representatives of the Thai Nguyen Red Cross Society, alongside local leaders and supported households.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Truong Son noted that natural disasters in 2025 caused severe losses in human lives, property, and livelihoods across many localities, with hundreds of thousands of houses damaged or collapsed, leaving many families without safe shelter.

According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, the support project funded by the Korean Government through KOICA and implemented by IOM in Vietnam serves as a practical resource. It helps affected households quickly restore their homes, stabilize their lives, and enhance their resilience against future disasters. Furthermore, the project demonstrates the solidarity and support of the international community for Vietnam in disaster recovery and climate change adaptation efforts.

Representatives from participating organizations also acknowledged the coordination of local authorities in screening and selecting beneficiaries according to established criteria—prioritizing poor, near-poor, and vulnerable households to ensure transparent and public distribution of aid.

As part of the program, delegates presented symbolic handover boards, disbursed financial aid to eligible households, and visited several families currently building or repairing their houses in Yen Trach commune to encourage and express support for the residents.

In addition to financial assistance, the project provides technical guidance to help households build and repair safer homes, contributing to improved disaster resilience and strengthening community recovery capacity.
