Speaking at the Workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Tien - Deputy Director of Vietnam Disaster Management Authority said: This workshop was organized to collect comments from the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, Steering Committee Offices for Disaster prevention and search and rescue of 32 Northern provinces and cities, thereby serving as a basis for finalizing the draft of two decrees to be submitted to the Government.

In the morning, representatives of VNDMA introduced the draft of the two Decrees; as well as listening to UNDP representative's experiences in Forecast-based Financing Early Action/Early Warning in natural disaster prevention and control activities of countries around the world. In the afternoon, delegates will participate in discussions and contribute ideas.

At the Workshop, Mr. Nguyen Viet Tien - Director of Department of Legal and Inspection, Vietnam Disaster Management Agency introduced the Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Law on Dykes; presented a draft Decree on amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 160/2018/ ND-CP detailing the implementation of the Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Draft Decree on the establishment and management of NDPC Fund. Provincial representatives exchanged and discussed comments to complete the drafts.

Mr. Khusrav Sharifov, UNDP expert shared his experiences on Forecast-based Financing Early Action/Early Warning in NDPC of countries around the world.

Up to now, the draft of the two Decrees has been developed and posted on Government Portal, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Disaster Management Agency and sent to 63 provinces and cities nationwide and other ministries, agencies, sectors, political and social organizations for opinions.
