This aid package for Vietnamese citizens affected by natural disasters in 2025 was approved by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus in March 2026. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus served as the lead agency in organizing the maritime transport of the aid to Viet Nam. On the Vietnamese side, the receiving representatives included Mr. Le Van Bao, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, and Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Deputy Director General of the Viet Nam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. Representing the Government of the Republic of Belarus was His Excellency Oleg Shloma, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus to Viet Nam.
The relief cargo comprised a large quantity of food supplies (sweetened condensed milk, white sugar) along with blankets, bed sheets, and pillows, totaling a gross weight of over 27 tons. Immediately following the ceremony, the shipment was transported to Quang Tri Province within the day for local authorities to organize distribution to residents who have been affected by natural disasters recently.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Belarusian Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Ambassador to Viet Nam, Oleg Shloma, shared that Belarus stands ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with and support the brotherly Vietnamese people during challenging times. He expressed hope that the cargo would provide practical assistance to Vietnamese families hit by disasters. Continuing this fine tradition will significantly contribute to further consolidating the Strategic Partnership established between the two nations in May 2025, strengthening the friendship between both peoples, and promoting inter-regional cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Upon receiving the aid, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Van Bao expressed his deep gratitude for the assistance from the Government and people of Belarus. According to Mr. Le Van Bao, these essential relief items not only help residents improve their immediate living conditions but also enhance local preparedness and response capacities for the 2026 rainy and stormy season. Quang Tri Province will direct relevant authorities to urgently transport and distribute the goods to the rightful beneficiaries as swiftly as possible. This aid activity further exemplifies the spirit of solidarity, sharing, and the fine friendship between the peoples of Belarus and Viet Nam.
