Natural disasters (heavy rain, thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning, landslides, etc.) occurred in 3 days from 1 to 3 July, causing many damages in localities.

According to People's Committee of Mu Sang Commune's report (Phong Tho District, Lai Chau Province) about 23:00 on July 2 to 1:00 on July 3, during the search for cows, Sung A De (born in 1987) , residing in Sang Sang village, Mu Sang commune), unfortunately, slipped into Pa Nam Cum border stream and was swept away by the spring water in the area from landmark 67 to 68. By this time he is still missing.

Immediately after receiving the report, Phong Tho District People's Committee instructed the People's Committee of Mu Sang Commune to coordinate with the functional forces such as the District Police, Don San Border Guard, San San District Military Command, etc. to organize a search party. At the same time, instructing the DAO San Border Station to write and propose a meeting between Hoi Ngo and Kinh Binh area (China) to coordinate the search. In addition, Phong Tho District People's Committee directed Ma Li Pho Commune People's Committee, Ma Lu Thang People's Committee and Border Guard to inform about Mr. Sung A De to coordinate the search.

In Lo Thang 1 village, Then Sin commune, Tam Duong district, there was 1 person who was slightly injured due to soil erosion and landslide of 30m on the provincial road 130 (San Thang-Then Sin-Muong So) with a volume of about 1,120 m3. The total damage value is over VND 50 million.

In Lao Cai province, natural disasters caused 12 houses flooded (Cong Truong 5 village, Cam Duong commune, Lao Cai city); 5ha of rice and maize (Bat Xat district) were flooded, etc. In Road 156B, floods flooded sections passing Quang Kim petrol station (0.5m-0.6m deep), the section passing to Group 6 Thi Bat Xat town (flooded from 0.5m to 0.7m) causes local traffic congestion. By 9:30 on July 3 the road was cleared again; The inter-commune route Quang Kim - Phin Ngan has 2 rainwater points overflowing the road causing traffic congestion for about 1 hour. The bank of the dam is also a road in Ho Nhuan 4, Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district with a landslide of 60m long on the slope of the dam. (The dam has a capacity of about 60,000m3, the height of the earth dam is about 5m, a length of about 65m, the top of the dam is combined to make roads).

Facing the above situation, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lao Cai province organized a inspection team to the scene of the dam body collapsed in Phu Nhuan commune to assess the level of insecurity of the dam body and direct the authorities. The locality mobilized forces and materials to reinforce the dam body and formulated a remedial plan to ensure safety.
