Following the training and capacity building program for the office of the Provincial Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, a briefing meeting on dyke management activities in provinces and cites having dykes grade III to special grade – Year 2019 was held by the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA) on 27 November 2019 at the Office of the Nam Dinh Provincial Commanding Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue.

Delegates of the meeting are leaders of DARDs, Sub-Departments of Dyke Management and Irrigation of provinces and provinces and cites having dykes grade III to special grade.

The meeting focused on the discussion of dyke management and protection activities and aspects, guidance on the development of dyke maintenance plans for 2020; guidance on strengthening equipment for the Dyke Management Division of the  Sub-Departments of Dyke Management; discussion of Emulation movement of effective dyke model construction. After the meeting, delegates visited the Right Red River dyke in Nam Truc District, Nam Dinh Province (this dyke is being refurbished recently to both create beautiful landscape and continued to be completed to meet effective dyke model criteria).

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Trần Quang Hoài requested localities to reinforce dyke management activities and dyke violation handing, promote the emulation movement of effective dyke model construction along with  new  rural development; develop reimbursement plan for natural disaster prevention and control fund for 2020 so that new technologies and materials can be used and applied to improve the efficiency of dyke management and dyke incident recovery.
