This year's Viet Nam National DRR Week is organized with the goal of strengthening information and communication, improving community capacity; raise the spirit and responsibility of all levels and branches from central to local in DRR; readying plans to respond to natural disasters in 2023. At the same time, highlighting the role and responsibilities in the year that ASEAN Disaster Management Committee (ACDM).



Responding to this year's Viet Nam National DRR Week, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control implemented activities including: Inauguration ceremony of "The project for emergency reservoir Operation and effective flood management using water related disaster management information system” funded by the Government of Japan (JICA) (May 12, 2023) in Thua Thien Hue.

A series of events in Hoi An city, Quang Nam in celebration of Viet Nam National DRR Week, including: Training to guide the organization of extracurricular activities on the topic of natural disaster prevention and control and organizing the scoring contest "Ring the golden bell" Disaster prevention - Creating a sustainable future" in schools (May 19, 2023). Launching a painting contest in response to the year Vietnam assumes the role of ACDM Chairman for children (from April 27 to May 5, 2023, marking the contest on May 17 2023). An exhibition of paintings with the theme "Disaster in your eyes" (including the winning paintings of previous contests).

A celebration meeting of Viet Nam National DRR Week will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Huynh Thi Luu Junior High School, Cam Thanh Commune, Hoi City. An, Quang Nam Province with the participation of Leaders of National Steering Committee for NDPC, People's Committee of Quang Nam Province and related ministries.

A series of Workshops including:

  • Mekong Delta Regional Workshop "Anticipatory action protocol for Drought" in Can Tho on May 15, 2023.
  • Consultation workshop "Assessment and Management of Disaster Risks in Urban Areas" on May 17-18 in Hanoi.
  • Training workshop on “Impact-based disaster forecasting and early warning” (IBFWS) on May 19 in Hanoi.
  • Training workshop: Assessing damage and impact of disasters from a gender and inclusive perspective using drones, contributing to Viet Nam's AADMER work-plan on May 17 in Thua Thien Hue.
