By 1:30pm on August 4, the height of Yen Lap lake's water was 21.5 m, equivalent to more than 53 million m3 (an increase of 25 million m3 compared to August 2). Since the beginning of 2020, this is the first time the water level in Yen Lap lake has reached over 53 million m3.
It is known that Yen Lap lake has a design capacity of over 127 million m3 of water. In June and July 2020, due to prolonged drought, the water level in Yen Lap lake drops quickly. There are times when the water level in Yen Lap lake is nearly as close to dead water level. This is the first year in history (since it was put into operation in 1982), the water level in the lake is at its lowest.
However, the heavy rains in recent days have helped Yen Lap reservoir to store water in time to ensure normal water supply for production and daily activities in Quang Yen, Uong Bi and Ha Long.
