The risk of drought is greater when more than 30 reservoirs now have a total capacity of about 96 million m3 (accounting for 39% of the total volume).
According to the representative of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, in the upcoming months, if rain does not occur in the province, the whole province will have nearly 26,000 households with more than 100,000 people lacking domestic water due to the internal water reservoir system with supplying function forecasted to be reduced to 30% and the flow on rivers and streams is also short of 40-60% compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, Dien Khanh district is forecast to have 11,262 households in 11 communes lacking water; Nha Trang city has 3,500 households; Cam Lam district has 3,550 households of 4 communes; Ninh Hoa town has 2,901 households in 4 communes; Van Ninh district has 2,738 households in 8 communes; Cam Ranh City has 1,404 households in 5 communes, etc. which will seriously lack water for domestic use.

To cope with this scenario, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has assigned localities to make plans, ready to implement in order to supply water for domestic use. Specifically, Van Ninh district and Cam Ranh city organize purchasing and transporting water for people on the island of Van Thanh and Cam Binh communes. At the same time, Van Ninh district drilled 20 more water wells in the expected water shortage villages, Cam Ranh City built more public faucets, invested in expanding the tap water system, carrying water from other places to drought areas of Cam Phuoc Dong commune, Cam Lap commune, Cam Thinh Tay commune.
Dien Khanh district will organize the purchase of water for people in the area's communes with water shortage. Cam Lam district improved the water supply pipeline, drilled wells, built 30 tanks to provide water for domestic use. Khanh Vinh district drills public wells in water-poor areas, far from concentrated water supply works. Khanh Son district plans to buy a large plastic bag to store water for people in Ba Cluster Nam, Son Lam and Doc Gao villages (To Hap town).
The implementation of plans for supplying daily-life water to people will use funds deducted from the country's budget, Disaster Prevention Funds and other sources.
