On October 2020, Australia provides over AUD 100.000 for humanitarian support to people suffering due to the severe flooding in Viet Nam Central Provinces.

Australia sent thier sincere condolences following the prolonged, heavy rains that have caused severe and widespread flooding and landslides in the central region of Vietnam, along with the deeply saddened by the loss oflife as well as the destruction of property and impact on the livelihoods oflocal people.

In response to the letter from Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong, calling for emergency relief for those affected in the central provinces, Australia is mobilising AUDI00,000 for immediate humanitarian support. This humanitarian assistance will be delivered through the Australian Humanitarian Partnership.

Addionalally, theAus4Innovation program, managed by Australia’sCSIRO in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, has redirected AUD20,000 toward the relief effort. Water treatment specialists from the University of Technology Sydney will work with local partners to rapidly manufacture and deploy water treatment systems for affected households and schools.

Australia is committed to standing with Viet Nam in ongoing relief and recovery efforts post-natural disaster events.
