Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, MARD Deputy Minister and Member of the CCNDPC delivered the speech at the Ceremony

Facing the escalating damages and losses caused by recent tropical digressions and floods, the Vietnamese Party Committee and Government of Vietnam have been urgently launching many actions to respond to disasters and providing emergency supports and relief to affected people to help them partly overcome disaster damages. Responding to the Call of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (CCNDPC), the Korean Embassy in Vietnam was one of the first organizations to promptly activate a USD 300,000 cash package for disaster recovery in the Central region.

On October 29, 2020, at the headquarter of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Park Noh-Wan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea to Vietnam directly present the support package to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Member of the CCNDPC.

For most effective disbursement of this cash package, the CCNDPC shall discuss and consult the local authorities and stakeholders to understand their needs before an optimal spending plan will be developed. Tentative spending options include: (i) Delivering cash reliefs to affected people so that they can recover themselves; (ii) Supporting the repairs of their damaged houses; (iii) Supporting the installation of community based iron alarms or large iron bells to ring the alarming levels before floods and storms.
