On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2020, on January 15 and 16, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development- Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, leading a delegation of the Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention and Control, visited and presented gifts and wishes for a happy Tet holiday for people in flooded areas in Sa Na village, Na Meo commune, Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa province.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Chairman; and Mr. Tran Quang Hoai - Director General (VNDMA) and Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, visited and presented gifts to 51 households of Sa Na village after more than 5 months of terrible flashfloods passed. On this occasion, on behalf of the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, Mr. Tran Quang Hoai gifted 50 alarm bells to the Steering Committee of for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province.

Accompanying the delegation to Thanh Hoa province was Mr. Do Minh Tuan - Provincial Party Deputy Secretary; Mr. Nguyen Duc Quyen, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee; and other representatives of related departments and agencies.

At the New Year's meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Deputy Chairman - said that 2019 storms in Vietnam seldomly occurred, but harshly with damages to people and property. Typically, the storm No. 3 in early August 2019 caused great damage to the people of Quan Son district, especially in Sa Na village.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong praised that Thanh Hoa province, Quan Son district, Na Meo commune promptly overcome the flood damage, organized search and rescue missing victims, took great care of people’s lives. After the floods, all departments and agencies quickly conducted searching for places and organized the construction of 51 resettled houses for people to have a home before the Lunar New Year of 2020.

The Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control noted that the weather situation is becoming more and more unpredictable, while the mountainous area of ​​Quan Son district in general and Sa Na village in particular have weak geology, prone to landslides. Therefore, authorities of all levels and concerned departments must pay attention to natural disaster prevention and control.

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong donated seedlings to people affected by natural disasters in Sa Na village, Na Meo commune, Quan Son, Thanh Hoa.

“In coming time, Thanh Hoa province, Quan Son district, Na Meo commune needs to continue supporting local people in socio-economic development. People should focus on developing forest economy, building production models towards sustainable development ”- Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong emphasized.

According to a report of Quan Son district representative, due to cyclone No. 3, on 2- 3 August 2019, there were tornadoes accompanied by heavy rain, causing flashfloods and landslides. These caused serious damage to people and property. Especially in Sa Na village, floods, landslides, 7 people were dead, 5 were injured and 6 were missing; 30 houses were washed away, 14 houses were completely collapsed.

 

Facing the damage caused by floods, Quan Son Party Committee, authorities and people of all ethnic groups have received great attention and guidance from the Central of Thanh Hoa province. Especially, the timely sharing of material and spiritual support from agencies, units, organizations, entrepreneurs and donors inside and outside the province. The care and sharing have encouraged and empowered the people of Quan Son ethnic groups, especially in Sa Na village to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Earlier, on the afternoon of January 15, the delegation visited and presented gifts to Mrs. Do Thi Mo's family - Luong Thien village, Luong Son commune, Thuong Xuan district (households voluntarily rose out of poverty).

In Thuong Xuan district, Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong and members of the delegation visited and presented Tet gifts to Mrs. Do Thi Mo (83 years old), Luong Thien village, Luong Son commune - the person who wrote the application to be out of poverty list voluntarily.

On the occasion of preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year of 2020, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development wishes Mrs. Mo to be healthy, continue to rise and become a model for the local people to follow.

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong and together with the leaders of Thanh Hoa province, gifted chickens to create livelihoods and planted many fruit trees such as mango, banana and pink pepper, etc. in the garden of Mrs. Mo's family.

Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong expressed his admiration and appreciation to Do Thi Mo's rising, proactively escape from poverty. The Minister stressed that the optimistic spirit of Mrs. Mo has become an example for many people across the country to follow.

Mrs. Mo had 11 children, two of whom were lost, the rest have settled down. This year she is 83 years old but still very healthy and agile. Everyday, she works hard in planting vegetables, raising chickens, etc. Her children have grown up and stabilized their lives but she has not lived with them and relied on any of them. She takes care of herself by selling vegetables at the market everyday.

Mrs. Mo's beautiful actions have created great inspiration all over the country, Mrs. Mo has set a good example, contributing to encourage the poor all over the country to promote the spirit of self-reliance and strive for a better life.

On this occasion, the delegation of MARD also visited and presented gifts to officials and people of Xuan Lap village, Ngoc Phung commune. This is the first model new rural standard village in mountainous area of ​​Thanh Hoa province.
