Hanoi, November 15, 2021 – Photo and Story Contest "Women responding to disasters" is a contest organized by the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA) - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the EmPower project, sponsored by The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UNWomen).

The contest is aimed at the community, journalists, photographers, etc. who have witnessed inspirational stories about women in natural disaster prevention and control, to raise awareness about gender equality and empowerment of women in the field. The contest is open to Vietnamese people of all ages, and entries need to portray the image of a woman in the context of natural disaster prevention, control and overcoming the consequences through inspirational photos and stories.
Details of the contest are as follows:
Contest launching and entry receiving: From November 15 to December 30, 2021
Voting: Until 8pm on January 15, 2022
Judging: From January 16 to January 30, 2022
Gold Prize: Worth 15 million VND
Silver Prize: Worth 10 million VND
The Community Prize is awarded to the entry of the amateur candidate whose work is the most appreciated by the Organizer: the price is worth 5 million VND
The Voting Prize is awarded to the entry with the largest number of interactions (likes: 1 point, comments: 2 points, shares: 3 points) on the FB Fanpage "Thien tai the gioi": the prize is worth 5 million VND.
• Eligible entries include 01 photo and 01 story accompanying the photo (minimum 100 words)
• Each participant can submit unlimited entries.
• Participants submit entries with full name, date of birth, address, email and contact phone number
- The list of finalist entries and winners will be based on the decision of the Jury.
- The winning photos will be selected based on specific impacts on society's awareness on the topic of women in natural disaster prevention and control.
- The entry is original, unique, creative and has not participated or received a prize in another contest.
- Photos in the Entries can be color or black and white.
- The entry has a touching story, is educational or inspirational to the community.
- The participants has the right to edit the lighting of the entry, but must not change the structure and content of the original photo.
- Entries must have the consent of the person appearing in the photo.
- Entries must be taken by the person who is participating in the contest and not infringe the copyright of a third party.
