Floods in two days from the 2nd to the 4th of July in Lao Cai made many roads damaged, houses flooded, many areas of rice and crops damaged. Economic loss is estimated at over VND 10 billion dong.

Due to the influence of low-pressure trench with Northwest-Southeast axis, combined with the high wind convergence area, from 2-7 to 4 July morning in Lao Cai province, there is moderate rain to heavy rain, some places had very heavy rain.

Heavy rains caused floods which caused many properties to be damaged. Of which, there are 28 houses affected by flooding.

Regarding agricultural production, more than 27.5 hectares of rice and rice fields; 5.57 ha of maize and vegetables were flooded; 11.6 ha of crops were broken, many cattle died due to being swept away by floods.

The road of Trinh Tuong to Y Ty (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai) was eroded.

Regarding traffic, the provincial road in Coc My commune, Bat Xat district was flooded, causing traffic congestion; provincial route 156b Ban Vuoc - Muong Hum - Y Ty has many landslides, damaged roadbeds and sidewalks.

The rescue route in Sin Chai village, Trinh Tuong commune, Bat Xat district suffered from a landslide of the talus and the negative surface seriously damaged some locations (landslide 2/3 of the road surface, cars could not go).

The bank of the dam is also a road in Ho Nhuan 4, Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district with a landslide of 60m long on the slope of the dam. the height of the dam is about 5m, the length is about 65m, the top of the dam is combined to make a road); The concrete bridge in Lang Da 1 village, Cam Duong commune (Lao Cai city) collapsed.

In addition to provincial roads 156, 156b and 158, a number of provincial roads, district roads, and other inter-commune roads were flooded, localities are reviewing and assessing the extent of damage. Floods also caused many irrigation channels to be buried and damaged.
Estimated damage due to floods in the past two days is over VND 10 billion.

Currently, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Lo Cai Province is urging localities to perform the 24-hour duty watch, deploy measures to cope with floods.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with the Department of Transport to organize the inspection team to landslide and flooding locations to assess the extent of damage and direct the response.

For cracked dams in Phu Nhuan commune, Bao Thang district, local authorities mobilized forces and materials to reinforce the dam body and formulate a remedial plan to ensure safety. Mobilizing forces on the spot in coordination with road management unit to conduct landslide and clear flow flows.

By 4pm on July 4, the locations on provincial roads 156 and 156B were temporarily opened.
