There are many landslides across the country, but the most serious cases are in Dat Mui. That is the assertion of Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep during the survey in Dat Mui commune.

On January 16, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep and the delegation worked with leaders of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, checked the reality of natural disaster recovery, visited people in Dat Mui commune, Ngoc Hien district.

In Dat Mui commune, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep and the delegation came to survey an investment project to build an embankment against the East coast landslide, from Dat Mui to Vam Xoay estuary.

Accordingly, this embankment is 3,000m long, 3.4m wide and constructed with pre-stressed centrifugal piles with a total investment of nearly 130 billion dong, the implementation time is from 2020 to 2022. Project objective is to protect and prevent landslide in the East coast from Dat Mui to Vam Xoay. At the same time, it contributes to the protection and regeneration of natural resources, creates electricity to develop economic, social and tourism activities in the region.

Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, said: This project is essential for investment in order to enhance adaptability to coastal landslide. However, in the implementation process, there are also many difficulties and obstacles. Construction conditions are often affected by adverse weather at sea.

After the reality survey, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said: This is a very meaningful project, because it not only contributes to the protection, prevention and restoration of protective forest belts but also contributes to socio-economic development of the province, especially for tourism development.

"Dat Mui is the locality most affected by landslides in Ca Mau province and the whole country. There are many landslides, but landslides in Dat Mui are the most serious in the country," said Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep.

Accordingly, Ngoc Hien district has 6 communes, 5 communes bordering the sea and 1 commune near the sea. Currently, all 6 communes of Ngoc Hien district have on-spot natural disaster prevention and control forces. In particular, there are police forces, the military, the border and the equipment suitable with local natural disaster prevention and control conditions, thereby reducing the damage significantly.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep presented 50 gifts to the people of Dat Mui commune who were in difficult circumstances due to the impact of natural disasters.
